JAFA Group together with Peking University, Chongqing University and Southern University of Science and Technology International all from China has paid a special visit to the University on the eve of its 6th Graduation Ceremony. The team led by Prof. Wang Rufa, chairman of the JAFA Group based in Chongqing China visited to discuss resource mobilization and academic collaboration with JOOUST.
Possible areas of collaboration that the two parties are out to explore include production of renewable energy technologies such as solar PV production, telecommunication equipment, affordable housing technology, rail engineering and water transport engineering; putting up Research Innovation and business incubation center; investing in modern agriculture technologies that include solar powered irrigation, agro-processing and modern aquaculture among other areas.
Amb. Steven Loyatum, Ag. Chairman of Council, has supported the move stating that JOOUST is well positioned for such partnerships as it enjoys the serene environment near the second largest fresh water body in the world, Lake Victoria. This statement was supported by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Agong’ while welcoming the visitors. Prof. Agong’ confirmed JOOUST’s readiness for partnerships that will help the University live up to her mission of being a beacon of excellence and a global leader in University education for sustainable development.
