JOOUST LAUNCHES TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION SUPPORT CENTRE

Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology officially launched the Technology and Innovation Support Centre (TISC) during a sensitization and training on Intellectual property rights. This was held at the Main Campus on 9th October, 2018.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Prof. Joseph Bosire while officially launching TISC on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, noted that the Centre will play a significant role in encouraging JOOUST researchers to patent their innovations emerging from research work.  

JOOUST is one of the Universities that has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with KIPI to support operationalization TISC. This was echoed by Managing Director KIPI, Mr. Sylvance Sange during the training who was supported by Mr. Paul Chege a Senior Patent Examiner at KIPI.

KIPI is focused to ensure great access to patent and intellectual management information to the Universities. This will position JOOUST as a Science, Technology and Innovation institution.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research, Innovation and Outreach Prof. Benson Estambale whose docket the training was organized encouraged the Senate members present to translate the skills acquired into action.
