MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCE

OFFICE OF THE VICE –CHANCELLOR

MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCE

It is with a great sense of sorrow that the entire fraternity of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology received the news of the sad demise of three of our students.

On behalf of the entire University, the Vice-Chancellor,Prof. Stephen G. Agong’ would like to sincerely take this time to offer a message of condolence to the families, friends and fellow students and condole with them during this difficult time.

The deaths of the three students were under totally different circumstances; one died of kidney failure while seeking treatment at a Government facility while the other died at a private facility. The third student, who has had a history of sickle cell died while on attachment outside the University under the care of his parents.

It is a sad coincidence that all this happened in quick succession.

This is therefore to advise the public to kindly ignore any misleading reports that have been circulating in the media and online platforms purporting that the deaths had to do with negligence on the part of the University. This reports are misleading and untrue. The deaths occurred outside the University, at public and private facilities where the students had been attended to.

The Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the Council and the entire University, takes this opportunity to assure our stakeholders that Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology is safe and that issues to do with the students’ welfare are and have always been our priority. We pride ourselves in being among one of the few Institutions of Higher learning that have embraced dialogue and an open door policy with our students who are our main stakeholders.

Our thought and prayers are with the families of the departed students during this difficult moment.

We pray that the Lord may grant themeternal peace.
