NEW COUNCIL INAGURATED INTO OFFICE

Jooust CouncilThe University recently inaugurated the new council into office. The new council chaired by Dr. Walter Juma Ongeti , a governance consultant and comprising other members namely; Dr. Ann Oburu, Mr. Ibrahim Maina Mutembei, Dr. Jonah Kangogo, Mr. Evans Atambo, Ambassador Steven Loyatum, Mr. Micah Origa, CPA. Ibrahim Maina Mutembei and Ms. Joyce N. Karinge, the highest placed organ in University management took an oath of office.

While Inaugurating the Council, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Agong’, pointed out that the members are a mix of professional expertise from different fields with vast experience gained from their careers. Prof. Agong’ added that these two variables would be an asset in moving the University to the next level.

The outgoing Chairman of Council, Dr Jumwa Mwandotto who was present during the occasion, highlighted some of his achievements while in office, citing several policies that they had put in place to support research, innovation and outreach. He also cited the launch of the strategic plan and the 50 year master plan being among one of the Universities with a long term plan.

Dr. Walter Ongeti the incoming chairman of council appreciated the warm reception he received form the entire University community. He vowed to safeguard the name of the University named after one of the founding fathers of the nation who stood for social justice and promised to undertake his duty diligently as spelt out in the statutes.

The Chairman of council said that among his main emphasis will be to build a strong team, engage key stakeholders in open forums and put students as the key focus. He lauded the Vice Chancellor and the entire University management for the excellent performance in projects especially the INSEFOOD project which he said has put the University in the world map.
Delivering a speech on behalf of the Principle Secretary University Education, Prof. Collette Suda, the representative Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Mr Evans Atambo said that the new council members were selected purely on merit based on individual achievement, wide experiences and professionalism.
