Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, Cabinet Secretary for Energy Hon. Opiyo Wandayi, and a delegation of leaders including Members of Parliament and Members of County Assembly, visited JOOUST for a high-level nuclear stakeholder engagement forum on the proposed establishment of a nuclear power plant in Siaya County.

The Nuclear Power and Energy Agency (NuPEA), under the leadership of the Board Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, convened the strategic forum to engage key stakeholders on the potential development. The session aimed to explore opportunities for collaboration and identify areas of mutual benefit, in alignment with Siaya County’s potential role as the host site for Kenya’s first nuclear power facility.

Staff members from JOOUST, affiliated with the Kenya Union of Domestic, Hotels, Educational Institutions, Hospitals and Allied Workers (KUDHEIHA), participated in a two-day intensive training held in Kisumu hotel on skills, retirement, and Culture Change.

The JOOUST VLIR-IUC Sub-project III on Building Capacity for Research, Management and Control of Communicable and Non-communicable Diseases in the Lake Victoria Basin recently conducted a community outreach initiative focused on enhancing skills, knowledge, and attitudes towards the prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Kisumu County. The activity brought together key stakeholders, including KMET, representatives from he County and Sub-county Governments, with the aim of Raising awareness and educating the community on NCDs , Promoting preventive practices, management of diabetes, hypertension, cervical cancer and healthy life choices. JOOUST VLIR-IUC Subproject 2 (Building Capacity for Transformative Agri-food Systems for Resilience in Lake Victoria Basin of Kenya) in partnership with AVEPO Agrovets conducted a field day themed "Right to foods for a better life and a better future" on 10th June 2025. The event was graced by the university staff, Agriculture officials from Siaya county government, farmers, students and Agricultural input and service providers.

JOOUST signs a Memorandum of collaboration (MoC) with Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH). This initiative aims to enhance our nursing program by offering students tailored clinical placements and direct access to critical healthcare environments. JOOTRH agreed to provide access to academic staff and students of JOOUST to the diagnostic, outpatient, inpatient and other activities of JOOTRH for purposes of teaching research and clinical services.
